All of our Tennessee Licensing Board for Contractors-approved courses in one place
We've got the answers!
8 Hours of R.C.E. Bi-Annually for licenses issued after Jan. 1, 2009 starting with expirations Jan. 31, 2022 and beyond.
Every 2 Years: 8 RCE Hours of Approved Courses
For any license that was issued after Jan. 1, 2009, in order to renew your Residential General Contractors lincense in Tennessee at least one qualifing agent per licensee in the license classifications of BC-A, BC-A/r and BC-A,b(sm) must complete 8 hours bi-annually by the end of the month that your license expires (prior to renewal).
What if I have just a commercial GC license?
Great, you are exempt!
At this time, any license holder that ONLY possesses a BC classification is NOT required to complete RCE in order to renew their license. This exempts the following types of licenses:
- BC-B or BC-b (small commercial)
- Only exempt as long you also DO NOT have a residential classification “BC-A” as part of your license, such as a BCA,b(sm) combination classification.
- Again BCA,b(sm) does require 8 Hours of RCE
What if I have more than one registered license with one issued before Jan. 1, 2009?
You are still exempt from RCE, but upon renewal you MUST do the following:
1. Type a document that includes your pre-Jan. 1, 2009 license number.
2. Submit along with the current license renewal.
2. Submit along with the current license renewal.
How does my R.C.E. credit get submitted to the TN Licensing Board for Contractors?
You will submit the Certificate of Completion you are able to print out at the end of each course that you complete with us.
At this time, you will only need to submit each respective Certificate of Completion at your renewal time. Thus, at renewal time you will need to submit the following:
You will submit these under "Other-Disclosures and Additional Info" file attachment.
Note: RCE should not be sent separate from your renewal.
- Financial Statement
- Certificate of Insurance
- RCE Course(s) Certificate of Completions
You will submit these under "Other-Disclosures and Additional Info" file attachment.
Note: RCE should not be sent separate from your renewal.
What happens after I generate my certificate of completion within your course?
Great Job! Now be sure to add it with the rest of your renewal documents.
To ensure that your renewal does not get held up, be sure to attach ALL course Certificate of Completions as file attachment(s) under the labeling "Other-Disclosures and Additional Info".
